I might be a millennial, but I never believed in participation trophies. It was hard work and determination to get into medical school.
The American dream is to provide more for your children than your parents could provide for you. It means climbing that socio-economic ladder (or rather, escalator). With that in mind, realize that I got into medical school as a first-generation college and high school graduate.
